Capacitive Load Device

AT series capacitive load device consists of multiple power capacitor banks with switching, measurement and protection units. It provides multi-step switchable capacitive reactive power for power equipment testing and power system applications. Widely used for capacitor bank tests, reactive power compensation tests, filter branch commissioning, transformer capacitive load tests and switchgear switching tests.

Application

AT series capacitive load device provides capacitive reactive power load for power system testing. Through independent switching of multiple capacitor banks, it simulates capacitive loads in actual grids. Main applications include:

Factory and type tests of power capacitor banks

Testing and commissioning of reactive power compensation devices (SVC / SVG / TSC / MSC)

Filter branch commissioning (combined with reactors)

Transformer capacitive load and temperature rise tests

Capacitor bank switching tests for MV switchgear

High-voltage cable charging current simulation tests

Generator under-excitation operation tests

Capacitive reactive power compensation tests for wind/PV grid integration

Structural Features

Multi-stage capacitor banks: Multiple independent capacitor units, each switchable individually for step-by-step reactive power adjustment

Multiple voltage levels: Covers LV 0.4kV to MV 35kV systems

Flexible switching modes: Manual, electric or automatic control

Complete protection: Over-voltage, over-current, over-temperature, fuse protection and discharge devices

Safe discharge: Each capacitor bank equipped with discharge resistors or reactors for fast discharge after power-off

Frame structure: Steel frame or container structure for easy transport, installation and expansion

Measurement and monitoring: Optional current, voltage, reactive power and temperature monitoring

Low-loss design: Low-loss polypropylene film capacitors with small heat generation and long life

Selection Guide

Capacitor factory test: Choose small single-bank capacity with multiple banks to simulate various load conditions

Reactive compensation test: Match voltage and capacity with tested compensation device, configure reactors

Filter branch commissioning: Select reactor reactance rate based on target harmonic order (5%, 6%, 7%, 12%, 14%)

Switchgear switching test: Choose electric or automatic switching to simulate actual capacitor switching

Transformer capacitive load test: Match capacitive reactive power with tested transformer capacity

Outdoor installation: Choose oil-immersed capacitors or outdoor IP54 dry-type solution

Frequent switching applications: Choose thyristor switches (TSC) for fast response and no contact wear
